Hello Fans, Friends and Family

Sunday, July 4th:  Happy 4th of July to ALL!!!  On todays ride I stopped by Snake Alley in Burlington, IA.  I went down and then back up.  It was very steep, winding and a little scary.  Especially with all the cobblestone bricks.  Snake Alley consists of 5 half curves, 2 quarter curves and drops 58 feet in a distance of only 275 feet.  I then crossed the bridge over the Mississippi River and was soon into Illinois.  In Nebraska, the farmers all say they hope the corn is knee high by July 4th.  It is now July 4th, we are in Illinois and I guess the corn is a little more than knee high.  Passed a sign that says to look out for horse and carriage.  Also saw a sign telling me there was a hidden entrance ahead.  It was hidden by quite a few large trees.  I then came upon road construction.  It was rough road ahead for over 10 miles.  After cycling 124 miles we arrived in Peoria, IL.  We found a place to park in time to watch spectacular fireworks display from almost every direction.  Tomorrow we plan to continue travelling northeast on Hwy 24.  Until then . . .
