Hello, Fans, Friends and Family

Friday, October 1st:  Yesterday morning we packed up, leaving Tucson, AZ.  On the way out of the RV park, Judy noticed a truck that she thought couldn’t decide if it wanted to be pick-up or big-rig.  As we were leaving Tucson area we crossed over Ina Rd overpass.  If you stay on the highway, just past the exit, that is where I had my accident.  There are a few hills and lots of cacti along side the highway.  We got to see one of those tiny tear-drop campers on the road.  Can you picture Judy and me trying to get in and out of that thing?  We cross over into the state of California.  We drop to sea level elevation and within a few short miles we are up to an elevation of 4,000 feet.  A lot of the hillsides in the area are covered with sand.  There are also concrete barrels filled with water in case you need to fill your radiator.  We arrive at Sunland Circle RV Resort.  Laura gave us a great discount price for our stay.  It was a very nice park, but we didn’t spend a lot of time there.  Perris Reed, a friend that I served with in the Army Reserves lives with his wife and family in El Cajon.  We spent the evening at heir home with Sylvia while Perris worked through the night restoring electricity in the San Diego area after a wild lightning storm.

This morning we returned to their home for breakfast and to continue our visit with both Perris and Sylvia.  In the picture is Buddy (the dog), Perris, me, Judy and Sylvia.  Our visit was over too soon, but we do not live very far away and will try to visit each other again in the near future.  We head for home on the Southern California Interstates.  Surprisingly, the traffic is very good with no incidences.  We are now home and will put my bike ride on hold until I am healed enough to finish this ride.  After 6 months I have cycled 9,646 miles in my goal to cycle 10,000 miles around the United States in the fight against Leukemia & Lymphoma.  In my goal to raise $10,000 in donations to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, a total of $4,021 has been raised through my website.  While the cycling portion of my ride may be temporarily on hold, you can still help me reach my $10,000 goal to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society by visiting http://www.gsf.lls.llsevent.org/JACOBSONEXPRESS and making your donation.  Until next time . . . Rememer To Wear Your Helmet . . .
