Tuesday, March 29th, 2011:  Today I took a bike ride starting at 7:00 AM from Pahrump, NV.  I headed south until I arrived at Highway 372.  I headed west on Highway 372 and after 12 miles I was already entering California.  I continued on Highway 372 until I arrived in Shoshone, CA with 31 miles.  I now head north on Highway 127 for 27 miles and arrive at Death Valley Junction in Amargosa, CA.  From here I head east on State Line Rd which is the same road as Bell Vista.  I continue on Bell Vista until I arrive in Pahrump.  By the time I finish my ride I have cycled almost 90 miles.  There are a lot of hills and mountains in the area almost everywhere I ride.  The next to the last picture is Mt Charleston which overlooks my town of Pahrump, NV in the valley below.  The flat top hill in the last picture reminds my wife Judy of a UFO landing site.  There is a link between here and the pictures that shows the details of my ride.  Hope you enjoy.

Wednesday, March 23rd:  I am now back at my home in Pahrump, NV and decided to take a bike ride around town.  Today’s ride was a 42 mile loop to Sheri’s Ranch and back.  Sheri’s Ranch is a local brothel that has legalized prostitution.  Below is a link that shows the details of today’s ride.  Below the link I have some pictures I took during my ride.  The first 2 pics are of me and my home.  I can see the snow on Mt Charleston from the street I live on.  My Official start of my ride began at the local BBQ Restaurant, Water Rock Cafe.  Most of the roads I was on today had no bike lane.  I think I had less that 5 miles of bike lane on my entire ride.  Among some of the major businesses in town include Home Depot and Walmart.  There is also a Sonic Burger and Carl’s Jr among other eateries.  The Nugget and Terribles Casino are 2 of the larger casinos in the center of town.  A little further up the road is a white castle called The Kingdom.  It is a gentleman’s club for those who need a little spice in their life.  I eventually come to Terrible’s Lakeside Casino.  It is a large casino and is also a very nice RV Resort as well.  Stay on this road a few more miles and you come to Sheri’s Ranch.  I stayed only long enough to take a couple of pics and continued my ride home.  Looking forward to another good ride soon.

Tuesday, March 22nd:  It is time to head back home to our house in Pahrump, Nevada.  I don’t think we have spent enough time since moving here to justify having a house in Nevada.  That’s probably because most of our family and friends are in Southern California.  That, and the fact that SoCal is where I really love to ride my bicycle the most.  This year we will probably be spending a lot more time in Nevada, so I will just have to get on my bike and ride so my body doesn”t get rusty.  We spent a lot of money on our trip last year.  This year we are still paying medical bills from my accident so will need to stay home more to save money.  We will still try to get out to SoCal as often as possible, just for shorter trips.

Saturday, March 19th:  Today I took a bike ride with my 12 year old grandson Ty and a friend from my bike club, Albert.  We rode through Palos Verdes California.  It was a nice 37 mile ride with some good hills.  The weather was very nice and and we really enjoyed the ride.  I have a new computer for my bike that I can download information to my computer with.  It is a Garmin Edge 500.  If you click on the link below you can view my ride information including a map of my bike route.

On Saturday, 12 March, 2011, Judy and I went to Solvang, CA to help out on a bicycle event that our bike club puts on.  Our club is SCOR (www.scorccc.com) and we put on 2 rides a year.  One is in November where we have a 25 and a fifty mile ride.  In March it is a 50 and 100 ride, and new to this year is a 69 mile ride.  The weather was very good for this ride.  Judy and I helped out with registration for the ride on Friday night and on Saturday we manned a rest station for the riders.  We had a lot of riders come through our rest stop.  The total for the entire event was almost 4,200 riders.  We enjoyed helping out and will try to be at the next event in November.
