April 30, 2011

Saturday, April 30th, 2011:  My challenge to ride everyday during the month of April is now complete!  today’s ride was 11.5 miles with my grandson.  We had a strong headwind from the north so the last 2 1/2 miles was a breeze.  Tomorrow we head back to California where I will be able to do some of my favorite rides.  You can view the details of today’s ride by clicking on the link below:

Friday, April 29th, 2011:  Today is extremely windy.  Not a good day for a bike ride, so I took my grandson Ty with me for a bike ride twice around the block.  Almost 6 minutes for a one mile ride.  Not a fast ride.  Tomorrow is the last day of my 30 day challenge to ride everyday during the month of April.  You can view my progress by clicking on the link below:

Wednesday, April 27th, 2011:  Today is the 27th day of my challenge to ride everyday during the month of April.  It is also Judy’s birthday.  Ty and I took a short ride early in the afternoon to pick up the mail at the mail center.  The ride was 9.7 miles round trip.  Tonight we’ll take Judy out for a nice steak dinner and have cake and ice cream when we get home.   Hope she has a wonderful day!  You can view our ride details by clicking on the link below:

Tuesday, April 26, 2011:  Today was supposed to be breezy.  Actually it was HEAVY WINDS!  My plan for today was to ride out to Terrible’s Lakeside with my grandson, TY to check out the swimming pool.  It was a nice ride out there because most of the ride came with a nice tailwind.  We got there after 17 miles and TY decided it was too cold for the pool, so we just relaxed in the Jacuzzi for awhile.  We were hoping the winds would die down before we started the ride back.  After about an hour we were ready to head back, but the winds were still blowing, this time creating what would be a fierce headwind.  TY decided we should call grandma to come pick us up and I could not agree less!  Before we headed back I gave her a call and she said she would pick us up on our way home.  We started on our way to see how far we would get before grandma met up with us.  We really had to fight the winds to keep the bike going in a straight line.  Our speed was so slow that we only got about 2 miles before grandma met us on the road.  I loaded up the bikes and we headed home happy to be out of the wind.  We’ll try another ride tomorrow!  You can see the ride we took by clicking on the link below:

Monday, April 25th, 2011:  This is day 25 of my 30 day challenge to ride everyday during the month of April.  Today I rode with my grandson south on Blagg and then into town to have breakfast at Burger King.  He had pancakes and I had a breakfast sandwich.  The ride to breakfast was only 7 miles, so we took a longer route west on Hwy 372 until we got to Barney and headed north to Simkins where we turned east and headed for home.  Today’s ride was a little over 20 miles and I think we both enjoyed the ride.  You can view today’s ride by clicking on the link below:

Sunday, April 24th, 2011:  Happy Easter everyone!  Today our 12 year old grandson, TY came to visit for the week.  We had breakfast with his family in Barstow, CA, where we picked him up.  By the time we got back home it was after 3:00PM.  Ty and I took a short 3 1/2 mile ride to the store and back with a quick loop through the neighborhood.  I’ll see if I can get him to do some longer (not too long) rides with me the rest of the week.  I am still working on my goal to ride every day during the month of April.  Only 6 more days to go!  You can see my progress by clicking on the link below:

Saturday, April 23rd, 2011:  This is day 23 of my 30 day challenge to ride every day during the month of April.  Only 7 more days to go.  Todays ride was just over 102 miles.  I took Highway 160 south to Old Spanish Trail Highway.  Biked along Old Spanish Trail Hwy passing through Tecopah Hot Springs and then to Shoshone, before heading back home to Pahrump.  I got an early start at 6:30AM.  The weather was nice but there was a little bit of wind to deal with.  I really enjoyed the scenery.  I have included some pictures below including one of a “Snake Crossing” sign.  I guess someone wanted to make sure no one runs over the snakes!  You can view the details of todays ride by clicking on the link below.

Thursday, April 21st, 2011:  Day 21 of my 30 day challenge to ride every day during the month of April.  Today was very windy.  I knew it would be.  They told me it would be.  I just did a short ride around the neighborhood, down to the store and the local Post Office.  I think the winds will be calmer tomorrow.  If so, I will do a longer ride.  You can view the stats of my ride by clicking on the link below:
