Verde Green by wildwes49

Saturday, 6 August 2011:  It has been a while since my last blog as I have not been riding.  My last ride was very tough because of the extreme heat.  I thought I would wait until I got back in California to go on another ride.  I just got here yesterday, so today I rode about 5 miles to Liberty Park in Cerritos, CA where I met 14 other riders from my bike club.  The ride took us all the way out to Costa Mesa before stopping for lunch at Corner Bakery in Huntington Beach.  The ride from the park to Corner Bakery was about 30 miles with a couple of moderate climbs.  We enjoyed the food and the waitress was a little flirty with some of our riders.  Corner Bakery is a favorite stop for a lot of our riders.  After lunch we took a more direct route back to the park.  The return trip was only 20 miles giving us a total of about 50 miles for the ride.  There wasn’t much climbing on this ride.  The total elevation gain was only 873 feet.  After the ride I rode another 7 miles to where I had my car parked giving me a total of 62 miles.  I then went to visit my son, but he had a lot of company, so I didn’t stay long.  He is not expecting any company tomorrow, so I may pay him a longer visit then.  You can view the details of my ride by clicking on the link below:
